# Inbox & Notifications

Arkata has a built-in notification inbox so you know when something needs your attention without constantly checking every project.

## What triggers a notification

You'll receive a notification when:

* **A task is assigned to you** — someone has given you work to do
* **A task moves to In Review** — if you're the reviewer, work is ready for you to check
* **Email automation acts on a project** — an email was automatically matched and filed

## Viewing notifications

Click the **inbox icon** in the navigation bar to see your notifications. Each notification shows:

* What happened (e.g. "Task assigned to you: Site survey for client X")
* When it happened
* A link to the relevant task or project

## Managing notifications

* **Mark as read**: Click on a notification to mark it as read
* **Dismiss**: Remove notifications you no longer need

## Notification lifecycle

* Unread notifications stay in your inbox for **30 days**
* Read notifications stay for **14 days**
* After that, they're automatically cleaned up

<Tip>
  Check your inbox regularly — especially after being away from Arkata for a few days. Tasks assigned while you were away will be waiting there.
